This video art is a dilemma between the amount of editing / effects and the visibility of the actual jumps in parkour videos. We have the tendency to stylize parkour films (or potentially skate), firstly for the aesthetical reasons, but also for standing out and creating something unique.
However, there is a line that, when crossed, defeats the original point of the film - to show the movement recorded.
Where is this line? And what happens if you cross it?
Can you turn this approach on its head and use the movement recorded not to show the movement, but to make the effects stand out even more?
I chose the second approach in this video art - the jumps are shown secondary to the edit/effects.
This piece was made using old analog-video processor (Carena MVP4000), which I circuit bent at home by rewiring the video chips and circuits. Then I used masterfully shot clips from films by Avanti Garda, and thanks to Venda’s amazing camera skills, managed to create this
